Ultra Bone Health
Ultra Bone Health promotes the restoration of bone mass for those with Osteoporosis. This blend also promotes bone health for women nearing menopause who may be concerned about bone loss. For most of our lives, we have depleted the supply of calcium, magnesium and potassium from the body. When we eat acid forming foods or are under stress, the body automatically "dumps" these alkaline minerals from our bones, teeth, tissue and muscle to "rescue" our pH levels in the bloodstream. This process and the loss of bone mass due to menopausal effects are the major contributors to Osteoporosis. Our blend replenishes vital minerals, trace minerals and vitamins so that the body can begin to rebuild and restore bone mass. It also contains key ingredients to promote optimal bioavailability and absorption. Ipriflavone, one of our primary ingredients, is a special extract from soy Isoflavones. It has been tested and found to promote bone mass, bone health, retention of calcium, and formation of osteoblasts (new bone cells).
For patients with Osteoporosis or Osteoarthritis it is generally recommended that your dietary intake include foods that are alkaline forming and that animal proteins be reduced. Elimination of colas, sodas, sugary foods and beverage, and processed foods will promote a reduction of acid. For beverages you will find that delicious herbal teas can be refreshing and that they are more balanced than sugary, carbonated drinks. Be sure to eat 5 to 9 servings a day of fresh vegetables and fruit, particularly green leafy vegetables. These foods promote better health. Those of you on a tight schedule who can't always eat enough fresh vegetables or fruit can try the Alfalfa Power or the Total Fruit and Vegetable Formula.
When we take in more acid forming food and beverages, our body dumps calcium and other alkaline minerals from our bones and tissue into the bloodstream to balance the blood and body pH. This process increases the cause of disease, such as Osteoporosis and other degenerative disease. Taking pH Plus in water, King Coral Calcium or Alfalfa Power promotes a more alkaline system and supports the elimination of harmful acidic waste.
Other formulations that act synergistically with Ultra Bone Health include MSM Plus C (Powder or Capsules) and Ultra Joint Health. Ultra Joint Health promotes the rebuilding of cartilage in the joint and supplies some MSM. For those who require increased amounts of MSM, please try MSM Plus C. These products are bioavailable and are properly pH balanced.

Ultra Bone Health Ingredients List
Vitamin A (Palmitate): Vitamin A (the beta-carotene portion is an antioxidant) promotes healthy vision, glands, hair, skin & bone growth & aids in fighting infection.
Vitamin D3: Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) promotes the absorption of calcium into the body. It is generally recommended that patients diagnosed with Osteoporosis should get sunshine daily, as that is the best source of Vitamin D for our body. Since that is not always possible, we have included enough Vitamin D here.
Vitamin E: This antioxidant vitamin protects from free radical damage & maintains skin collagen, cardiac, micro-vascular, eye, nerve, skeletal & muscle health. Vitamin E promotes healing and improves blood glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity. Vitamin E prevents oxidation of LDL thereby improving cholesterol control. Vitamin E is an inhibitor of oxidation processes in body tissues.
Vitamin B1: Thiamine converts carbohydrates into energy aids in protein & fat metabolization, energy production, digestion, nerve function & maintains muscle tone.
Vitamin B2 - Riboflavin: Riboflavin is required to complete several reactions in the energy cycle. Glutathione reductase is a riboflavin-dependent enzyme that converts oxidized glutathione (GSSG) back to reduced glutathione (GSH), and is then able to perform its antioxidant functions via glutathione peroxidase. Without sufficient riboflavin this conversion does not occur. It is important for nerve & eye function.
Vitamin B3: This vitamin is available as niacin or niacinamide. We chose niacinamide because niacin can cause flushing in some individuals. Niacinamide opens up the superficial blood vessels thereby improving blood circulation & aids in utilization of GABA. Necessary for carbohydrate & protein metabolism, fat & hormone synthesis, digestion, & nervous system, it also improves insulin production by preventing damage to pancreas in Type I diabetes. Vitamin B3 prevents oxidative damage to pancreas from activated immune cells.
Pantothenic Acid: Pantothenic Acid is Vitamin B5. It aids in metabolism of protein, fat & carbohydrates. Promotes healthy skin & digestion & is a precursor to neurotransmitters.
Vitamin B6: Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is involved in the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and lipids, including essential fatty acids. This vitamin is especially important in dependent enzymes that are involved in amino metabolism. Pyridoxine converts DOPA into dopamine, a critical neurotransmitter and maximizes the conversion to noradrenaline in the brain metabolism and the synthesis of carotine.
Vitamin B12: This vitamin is a complex crystalline compound that functions in all cells, but especially in those of the gastrointestinal tract, the nervous system, and the bone marrow. It is known to aid in the development of red blood cells in higher animals. It is essential for the functioning of all body cells, nerve & brain cells, & fat/protein synthesis. A deficiency or subtle insufficiency (not necessarily reflected by anemia) is now known to result in memory loss, personality and mood changes and fatigue.
Biotin: Biotin is an essential cofactor for enzymes. It aids in the synthesis of hormones & cholesterol, promotes healthy growth, skin, hair, nerves, bone marrow, & oil glands, aids in metabolism of fats, proteins & carbohydrates, improves glucose tolerance in Type II diabetes & prevents damage to nerves resulting from deficiency.
PABA: PABA, the "vitamin within a vitamin", occurs in combination with folic acid. PABA enables bacteria to synthesize folic acid. Protein breakdown and utilization and red blood cell formation depends on PABA.
Folic Acid: Folic Acid aids in the synthesis of collagen & nucleic acid, is essential for red blood cell formation & amino acid metabolization. Has cardiovascular benefits.
Inositol: Inositol, a simple carbohydrate found in the brain & central nervous cells, metabolizes fats & cholesterol & aids in transporting fat in the blood system. It is required for proper formation of cell membranes, aids in the redistribution of body fat, the lowering of cholesterol levels, is implicated in improving the transmission of neural signals in diabetics, is a member of the B-Complex group & is a lipotropic agent.
Vitamin C: Vitamin C promotes the bodies ability to “build” bones, facilitates iron absorption, and is a strong antioxidant (preventing free radical damage). It is linked with reduced risk of arthritis, asthma, cancer, cataracts, cognitive impairment, macular degeneration, impaired immune system & coronary disease. Dr. Linus Pauling pioneered research on this essential vitamin. Is promoted for wound healing, collagen formation, cancer prevention, endocrine & cardiovascular system, immune function & in diabetics promotes eye health. It is one of the least toxic substances known & any unused Vitamin C is eliminated quickly.
Citrus Bioflavonoids: Flavonoids aid in the absorption of Vitamin C and are linked with the reduced risk of coronary disease & inhibition of cancer-cell growth. Citrus Bioflavonoids contain terpenes, linked to reduced risk of cancer & promote healthy microcirculation.
Mixed Fruit Powder Antioxidants: Fruits contain various phytonutrients including antioxidants. Our mixed fruit powder comes from organically grown sources. After the fruit is picked, it is juiced and dried at a natural growing temperature so that the phytonutrient chain remains intact for maximum benefit.
Ipriflavone: Ipriflavone is a natural isoflavone from soy that has been shown to improve bone health and bone mass retention. Ipriflavone aids in restoring bone mass that has been lost; improves the retention of calcium; promotes the formation of osteoblasts (new bone cells); reduces or stops the activity of osteoclasts (bone-destroying cells); and has been tested for safety and for effectiveness. Researchers published results of tests in 1992 that showed that just 600 mg per day of Ipriflavone will increase bone mass as much as 9% in 3 to 9 months.
Calcium: Calcium is the major component of bones and teeth. It is linked with reduced risk of osteoporosis & possibly hypertension. Calcium works with factors for blood clotting, is needed for the release of neurotransmitters, muscular contractions & includes blood vessels related to hypertension. Calcium is required for absorption of Vitamin B12. This formulation contains 900 mg of calcium in a variety of forms and the synergistic factors of Vitamin D and magnesium for maximum absorption and utilization.
Magnesium: Magnesium contributes to bone health and to the biochemical reaction of over 300 enzymes and ATP. Additionally it contributes to the regulation of body temperature, energy, & for nerve & muscle function. It is linked with reduced risk of abnormal heart rhythms, coronary disease, heart failure, diabetes and in combination with calcium magnesium has been shown to work to prevent hypertension & osteoporosis. Magnesium is essential for calcium utilization. Calcium stimulates the muscles to contract & magnesium allows them to relax. As magnesium disappears from the muscles, calcium rushes in & the muscles tend to become tense or cramped. Almost half of the magnesium in the body is located in the bones. For additional information on Magnesium please request our data sheet on magnesium and its benefits.
Potassium: Potassium reduces blood pressure & may reduce the risk of hypertension. It is required for ion exchange as an electrolyte. It aids in clear thinking by sending oxygen to the brain. Charges in the exchange between the sodium & potassium are essential for brain function and intercellular movement.
Phosphorous: Contained in the Cholinergenic Complex, phosphorous works with calcium to form the structure of bones and teeth. Phosphorous forms the high-energy bonds in ATP, is found in DNA and RNA. Phosphorous produces energy, growth, healthy kidney function, muscle & nerve impulses.
Orotic Acid: Orotic Acid is valuable in activating the transport of minerals and trace minerals across cell membranes. This makes the minerals bioavailable. This is a very important function for those who have Osteoporosis or other degenerative and immune support diseases, many of which require extra supplementation of minerals.
Zinc: Zinc is a vital component of SOD (superoxide dimutase) & metallothionen. Zinc is associated with protein synthesis & supports the immune system by regulating production of T cells. It is essential to wound healing, tissue growth, insulin, reproductive organs & healthy blood. It is essential for normal function of many enzymes. People with diabetes generally have zinc deficiency. It increases the general antioxidant status of the body.
Copper: Copper promotes iron, cholesterol & lipid metabolism, bone growth, skin elastin, collagen & melanin pigmentation, synthesis of connective tissue, maintenance of the heart muscle, immune & central nervous system function. It functions as cofactor with SOD along with manganese & zinc. It maximizes the conversion to noradrenaline in the brain.
Manganese: Manganese is an important antioxidant nutrient, as it functions as part of SOD. Aids in synthesis of carbohydrates, fat, cholesterol & enzymes. Promotes reproductive organ health & bone & connective tissue formation.
Zinc, copper & manganese work together to promote the development of bone; sex organs; as co-factors with SOD to protect against cancer & heart disease, & supports immune function, the storage & release of insulin, the mobilization of vitamin A from the liver, and the stabilization of cell membranes.
Boron: Boron supports overall bone health and is used in supplements recommended for Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis. This trace mineral promotes appropriate energy utilization, lipid & mineral metabolism, electrical activity in the brain & immune function. Boron promotes the proper metabolism of calcium, magnesium, & phosphorus. Boron supports brain, hormone & cell membrane functions.
Chromium: Chromium is needed for glucose to enter cells because it helps insulin to function by removing sugar from the blood. Chromium, working in combination with inositol, lowers the level of LDL cholesterol & increases HDL. It promotes healthier blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Chromium is essential for protein & lipid metabolism.
Selenium: Selenium is the cofactor for glutathione peroxidase (GPx). GPx is most active in liver and removes peroxides formed by free radicals, especially at low concentrations. This is an antioxidant with activity as a free radical scavenger & works in harmony with vitamin E. It is important for growth & development.
Silicon: Silicon, the second most abundant element on the planet, is a trace mineral that is very important for maintaining health. It promotes the formation of the enzyme prolyhydroxylase, which is essential in the formation of collagen for bone formation and elastin for cartilage and connective tissue formation. Silicon works in conjunction with MSM to aid in the maintenance of skin, hair and nails. Dr. Edith Carlisle conducted studies at UCLA in the 1970’s that indicated that silica is needed for normal bone development and that without silica the growth and skeletal development would not be optimal.
Vanadium: In combination with chromium, vanadium helps improve insulin function, improves blood glucose control in Type II diabetes, & is involved with lipid, cholesterol & neurotransmitter metabolism, fertility, thyroid function, bone & tooth development & hormone production.
Strontium: Strontium supports bone formation and preliminary evidence suggests that women with osteoporosis may have reduced absorption of this trace mineral. Some healthcare practitioners have recommended up to 3 mg daily to support bone health.
Kelp: Kelp is the most bioavailable substance that contains over 50 trace minerals. We include this important ingredient to give the body all of the natural trace minerals that are required. Kelp forests occur in cold, nutrient-rich waters & normally are restricted to temperatures less than 20ºC. Kelp was the original source of iodine, being discovered by Courtois in 1812. Iodine does not occur in nature in the uncombined condition, but is widely, though sparingly, distributed in the form of iodides of sodium and potassium, in seawater, some seaweeds, and various mineral and medicinal springs. It is a very rich source of natural vitamins, minerals, and essential trace minerals, containing iodine, iron, sodium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, potassium, of vitamins A, B1, B2, C, D and E, plus amino acids. Kelp is especially high in iodine & provides the most natural base of potassium, sodium & magnesium that will be immediately usable by the brain to facilitate ATP function & fluid & nutrient movement. It is alkaline forming in the body.
DHEA DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) is the most abundant steroid found in the blood stream and it is primarily produced in the adrenal glands. DHEA is considered an anti-aging supplement and is frequently taken for Osteoporosis, Arthritis, Diabetes, Heart Disease and other diseases related to aging and the immune system.
Alfalfa Juice Powder: The Alfalfa used in this formulation is a 33:1 juice concentrate of Alfalfa that is grown high up in the mountains in Utah, in rich soil that is not treated with chemicals. The land is on a crop rotation program and therefore the ground is mineral rich and we harvest Alfalfa high in protein and all of the other beneficial nutrients. After harvest, we use only the leaves, which are rinsed, juiced and dried at a low temperature, so as not to hurt the phytonutrients, but to keep them totally intact for use by our bodies. When fresh fruits, vegetables, grains and grasses are freeze-dried or dried at high temperatures (pasteurized), the original chain in the food is fractured and the nutrient is damaged. Alfalfa is a rich source of all minerals (especially calcium, magnesium, potassium phosphorus, and iron in their most digestible form), fluoride in a natural form and most beneficial trace minerals, fiber, all vitamins (A as beta carotene, B6, B12, C, D, E, K & U) the eight essential amino acids, protein, enzymes, essential fatty acids, antioxidants such as chlorophyll, Octacosanol, Saponins, Carotenoids, flavones, isoflavones, sterols, coumarin derivatives, phytosterols and other phytonutrients! In addition to providing over 65 nutrients & over 100 phytonutrients, Alfalfa is alkalizing. When our body contains “acids” we leach “alkaline” minerals from the bone, cell structure and other body systems to “alkalize” the blood stream. This process contributes to degenerative disease and as we become more alkaline we conserve more of our alkaline minerals, such as calcium.
Blue Green Algae: Blue green algae are a whole food that is nutrient rich and alkaline forming in the body. It contains a broad range of nutrients in trace amounts that are extremely bioavailable. It is the oldest living organism on earth.
Barley Grass: Another alkaline forming whole food, barley grass is an SOD that contains over 110 of the nutrients required by our body. It is high in chlorophyll, contains protein as polypeptides, 18 amino acids, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, & electrolytes. Trace amounts of whole food components, such as Catalase, Arginine, Cytochrome oxidase, Aspartic acid, Dnase, Glutamic acid, Hexokinase, Malic dehydrogenase, Nitrate reductase, Isoleucine, Nitrogen oxyreductase, Leucine, Peroxidase, Lysine, Peroxidase catalase, Phosphatase, Phenylalanine, Phospholipase, Proline, Vitamin F, Polyphenoloxidase, Serine, Rnase, Threonine, Vitamin P, Tryptophan, Transhydrogenase, Tyrosine & Valine are found in Barley Grass. Like Alfalfa it absorbs quickly due to the wide range of phytonutrients.
Essential Fatty Acids: The essential fatty acids (Omega 3 and 6) are an essential component of the cell membranes and are necessary for healthy functioning of the cellular structure. In order for any nutrient or fluid passes through the cell’s outer surface the membrane must be flexible and without the essential fatty acids the membranes become stiff. Recovery time may be shortened because the cell may more easily absorb the nutrients required for recovery. This formula includes both types of essential fatty acids which are listed below.
Borage: This is a water-soluble form of Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's) and has a 10% GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid, an Omega 6) content. EFA's cannot be made by the body and must be consumed. They are found in very high concentrations in the brain because they are needed for normal brain function and development. These are also essential for immune system functioning & cell metabolism. They form prostaglandins that promote relaxation of muscles, enhance blood flow by promoting relaxation of the blood vessels.
DHA/EPA: DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (Eicosopentaenoic Acid) are Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids. They aid in reducing blood triglycerides, serum cholesterol, blood pressure, oxidative stress, pain and inflammation from arthritis; and supports heart and muscle contractions, cell membrane structure, vision, brain function, neurotransmission and healthy skin and hair. Omega 3 fatty acids aid in dispersing saturated fats and taking them is associated with changes in risk factors for atherosclerosis and heart disease.
Lactobacillus Sporogenes: Lactobacillus sporogenes is a beneficial bacterium that helps maintain a healthy balance of microflora in the intestinal tract. L.sporogenes does not require refrigeration to maintain its peak potency. Beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract promotes resistance to food allergies, a stronger immune response, better digestion & absorption of nutrients, improved bowel movements, reduction of harmful cholesterol, produces lactase to reduce lactose intolerance, & reduces the side effects of antibiotics.
