IP 6 with Milk Thistle

IP 6 with Milk Thistle is a unique combination of inositol hexaphosphate with Milk Thistle.  This combination is unique and the two ingredients are synergistic in functionality.

IP 6 increases natural killer cell activity and aids the body in removing toxic material.  IP 6 has been tested in multiple clinical trials for its effects on tumors and for its chemoprotective qualities. 

In the October 1989 issue of Infection Immunology, an article indicated that IP 6 is the most potent natural iron chelator and has strong antibiotic and antioxidant action. [Free Radical Biology Medicine, Volume 8, 1990; Journal Biological Chemistry, August 25, 1987] IP6 has been found to have similar iron-chelating properties as desferrioxamine, a drug commonly used to kill germs, tumor cells or to remove undesirable minerals from the body. [Biochemistry Journal, September 15, 1993] .  Most bacteria, viruses and fungi depend upon iron as a growth factor. Iron chelating prescription drugs and antibiotics (Adriamycin, Vancomycin, others) are effective against pathogens. The plague (Yersinia pestis), botulism, smallpox and anthrax could all be potentially treated with non-prescription metal binding chelators. One example was given in an article in January of 1980 in Medical Hypoteses that iron removal retards the growth of the plague. The biological activity of the botulinum toxin depends upon iron, and metal chelators may be beneficial. This was in an article in Infection Immunology, October 1989 and Toxicon, July, 1997.  Thus, using IP 6 to aid in detoxification and protective processes has become standard in the supplementation field.

Milk Thistle, one of the most ancient natural medicines, is grown in Europe, traditionally used for its ability to help detoxify the liver, stimulate the production of new cells in the liver, to treat gall stones, disorders of the spleen and gall bladder, to promote the flow of bile, promote the healing of skin diseases related to liver function, and for other disorders such as varicose veins, bronchitis, and digestive disorders.  Milk thistle contains flavonols and Silymarin.  These act as free radical scavengers.  Silymarin protects cell membranes from free-radical oxidative damage. This is known as lipid peroxidation. Most liver toxins produce damaging effects through free radical mechanisms. Silymarin protects the liver against the effects of toxins and heavy metal. Silymarin protects red blood cell membranes against the break down of red blood cells which are caused by certain red blood cell poisons.

If you are taking Milk Thistle to address problems of alcohol-related liver problems, give it at least 8 weeks before determining its usefulness for you. If you are taking it to detoxify or as a preventative, you may notice results more quickly.  Milk Thistle may cause loose bowels for the first 2-3 days because of Gallbladder stimulation, but this will subside.  Milk thistle has been used as a folk remedy for centuries in Europe for liver complaints. Recent research demonstrates that Milk Thistle extract that is standardized protects against some liver toxins through the action of its liver protecting (antihepatotoxic) compound, known as silymarin. Results suggest that silymarin protects liver cells by preventing the actions of toxic substances and it also stimulates protein synthesis to accelerate regeneration and production of liver cells. Silymarin has a restorative effect on the liver, which is a very important detoxifying organ and is involved in most bodily functions.  Detoxifying and restoring liver function is powerful and considered important for those with exposure to toxins.

Recommendations: Take one to six caps daily.  Take no more than 2 at any one time and wait four hours prior to the next serving.  Take with water only, no juice, tea, coffee or milk. Best taken on an empty stomach, at least one hour prior to a meal.  Do not take with supplements containing Vitamin C.
